Union takes ACC campaign to Sevens

Unions will take their campaign against ACC cuts to the Wellington sevens tournament this weekend.

The Council of Trade Unions president Helen Kelly says they will be paying for ads on the stadium's giant screens taking "a light-hearted route to a serious message about ACC",

The adverts, featuring the fictional misfortunes of 'Borat' in his fluorescent mankini with the strapline "That's gotta hurt - but cuts to ACC will hurt more".

"Our ads will keep with the fun of the occasion for fans watching on the screens around Wellington while giving a gentle reminder that the financial protection from ACC that they take for granted is under serious threat from this government's policies," Ms Kelly said.

The adverts will played between games televised on giant screens at the Westpac Stadium concourse, Queen's Wharf and Courtenay Place.

The campaign was paid for by unions who are backing the march and rally at Parliament on Tuesday February 16 which will also involve the bikers' lobby, health professionals and the public.

The Government is pruning back some ACC entitlements and increasing levies due to the cost of the scheme.

It has a policy of introducing competition for workplace accident insurance, but has to yet to make any moves in that area.

True..

Its just a shame the Unions remained quiet about ACC during Labours last Term...

Or maybe it was just that ex CTU presidents held the roles of Chairman of ACC and Minister of ACC during that time..

Not usually a fan of unions or left wing crap but Bloody Good Show.

We suffered mightily under Labours' kill em off if you can policies and hoped changing the Gumbootment might bring some recognition of basic Human Rights (Among other things) into the equation But seemingly we get the same old same old pontificating cover ups and hide whatever was done wrong instead of real Justice.

As the saying goes whatever the Gumbootment gets involed in turns to crap, actually thatw a said about the Home insulation scheme which it seems has brought companies like Hire a Hubby and the Worry forry into the business and those who have been in the field and often well respected are being forced to the wall.

Thank you to the Unions and others from us and all those "killed off" (Was recovering well in hospital but suddenly took a turn for the worse and died) and those forced into suicide by ACC Staff actions over recent years
