I was reading yesterday's article about an ACC claimant asking for help with vet bills and her very true & profound comment.

"I just spent $1000 which I haven't got ... it's a lot of money for someone who lives on ACC,"

A sad fact fact but true in that every claimant on reduced income must fund their own legal challenges. Some may have the advantage in that they qualify for legal aid.

I look at tomcats case over the last 20 years and wonder just how much it has cost him in time and money to obtain his lawfull entitlements.

A Napier contractor has been ordered to pay $60,000 after a logging accident resulted in one of its employees having to have part of his leg amputated.

A1 Contractors Limited was prosecuted by the Department of Labour after a log fell on an employee's leg at a work site on a property in Patoka, 45km northwest of Napier, in March last year.
