Over the almost four decades of its existence, the idea seems to have taken hold, particularly among some of its beneficiaries, that placement on an ACC earnings-related compensation scheme is a sinecure. Perhaps unsurprisingly costs began to rise and there have been various attempts to rein them in, notably by the National government in the early 1990s, efforts regarded to have been undone through the largesse of the Labour-led administrations that succeeded it.

Unfortunately it seems people fell that 80% of an often miscalculated sum at a particular date is something we should be grateful for and despite cost of living adjustments a falling income. No compensation for lost promotions advances or career improvements, just a meagre falling income in return for suffering and constant bashing by the system. Repeated assessments are not a problem in fact it is ajoy to meet with a wide variety of often well educated, informed and delightful people. The problems arise when ACC Staff, desperate to meet "future intentions" toward you deny any information which assessments provide on your condition and suggestions to help with rehab. For example you are sent to assessments "to ensure you are receiving the correct entitlements" and when those assessments make suggestions ACC simply files the report and ignores it, or sends you to another assessor of their choice having given them a set of boxes which they must fit you into. Basically it seems the Medical profession and others as a Whole can simply tell you what is wrong with you but cannot provide any magic cures or silver bullets. Why is it and I am sure others have found the same thing ACC staff constantly block and stop rehab attempts you make, where is the logic is such? Why now do I now have two diverging identities, that ACC wishes I had and has modified files and ignored assessents toward. And the real me with all my assessed injuries disabilities and dire predictions and needs which ACC constantly denies and ignores. One wonders who is correct? ACC staff with their future intentions toward you no matter what experts write and when even their own assessors note the dire "mis management we have been put through. Now it seems I attend assessments and independent file reviews by ACC accepted assessors which scorn ACC for not supplying full documentation or correct information (Suddenly renamed occupational medical reports) which make recommendations for support and supervision which ACC ignores or scorns. I have been assessed to a state where nobody in their right mind reading the reports would risk employing me in any unsupervised or without serious accommodation issues. Even ACC balks at supplying the suggested support accommodation and other caregiver issues. One wonders if the chap stopping the power co from tending their lines is being portrayed by people previously employed by ACC any question or request results in us being portrayed as difficult risky and legatious so much for the right of reply and other Human Rights considerations |
